Papua New Guinea is a diverse land of many cultures and languages. From its white sandy beaches and islands to the cool mountain climate and the hot tropical rainforests, PNG and its people make up the eastern half of New Guinea, the second biggest island in the world.

Getting to Papua New Guinea

You will need a visa from the nearest Papua New Guinea Embassy, valid travel documents and a return air fare. Air Niugini, the national airline, has an office or agent in the main cities of the world. The port of entry to Port Moresby, the capital, is via Australia, Singapore, Japan, Solomon Islands and the Philippines.

Visa/Immigration

All delegates, observers, invited guests, participants and person performing a function in the framework of the ACP and ACP-EC Council of Ministers Meetings will be accorded privileges including non payment of visa fees. Where PNG does not have an embassy, a visa will be issued to all ACP -EC delegates on arrival in Port Moresby. However, delegates are asked to carry accreditation letters to ensure airlines allow them to board the plane.

Accreditation Form 1

In order to ensure a smooth process of registration, accreditation and securing hotel accommodation, it is important that delegates, observers, invited guests fill in the Accreditation Form 1 and return to the PNG Events Council Secretariat before April 30th 2006. The letter of accreditation is very important for participants where Papua New Guinea does not have an embassy.

Media Accreditation and Customs Clearance

The Media must fill in Media Accreditation Form 2 and send it back to the PNG Events Council Secretariat before April 30th 2006. A separate entry visa application must also be to the nearest PNG embassy. Journalists bringing in equipment must list the types of equipment with details of models and serial numbers, value of the goods, and purpose of the visit to PNG. Arrival and Departure

Delegates will be met on arrival at the Jackson's International Airport by government officials and the assigned Liaison officers. After the visa/immigration formalities are completed, you will be taken to your hotels. Officers from the CS are assigned to move the luggage to the hotels. On departure, Liaison officers will need to complete the formalities at least an hour before the delegates check out of the hotel.

Liaison Officers

A liaison officer who is a senior civil servant has been assigned to each delegation for the duration of the meetings. This officer is the link between the delegate and the government of Papua New Guinea and the organizers of the meetings, the PNG Events Council Secretariat.
